From concept to completion, the story of Standish Hall is one of dexterity, speed, and collaboration. It began with a phone call to Windover from Endicott who was looking for more beds to accommodate their rapidly increasing student enrollment needs, and ends 16 short months later with the completion of a 95,000 square-foot residence hall featuring 295 beds arranged in apartment-style living quarters. Facing a condensed timeline that would run through one of New England’s toughest winters on record, our team’s strategy was to implement modular construction to improve efficiencies and quality while building at such an accelerated pace within an active campus setting.

Collaboration Takes Standish First Across the Finish Line

Finishing in time for seniors to move in for the 2015 fall semester was due entirely to a concentrated team effort on behalf of all project participants. An intensely collaborative design/build approach from the start united the college, design team, and Windover behind this innovative undertaking. The result is a residence hall that meets the college’s expanded housing goal and incorporates modern amenities such as student lounges, study areas, fitness room, and in-unit laundry.
