With creative arts at its core, Concord Academy partnered with Windover, DSK Architects, and a team of industry-leading to create a state-of-the-art performing arts center on its West Campus that would transform the student experience. Windover supported Concord Academy through preconstruction alongside DSK Architects, and managed the construction of the state-of-the-art facility, which includes a 125-seat music hall, a 175-seat theater, ensemble and practice rooms, a set shop, and a significant backstage area to support large-scale productions. Seats within the theater and music hall are all retractable, allowing flexibility to transform the spaces for dance performances, movie screenings, classes, and meetings. Additionally, there are recording and productions studios equipped with technology used in the industry today. Focused on sustainability and building for the future, the Centennial Arts Center has a zero-carbon certification standard, fossil-fuel-free climate system, and a solar-ready roof.
Windover employed meticulous planning and coordination to execute the installation of systems and equipment within the performing arts center, like the elaborate soundproofing design. Features such as layered walls, sound absorbing insulation, and floors lifted four inches off the ground to deaden the noise also required rigorous attention to detail.
