These two design-build projects for the YMCA of the North Shore are an important element to the organization’s commitment to serving the Greater Beverly community’s health and wellness needs. The two-story freestanding Youth Education Center features nine early education classrooms, four academic classrooms, and state-of-the-art amenities for children of all learning ages. Concurrent to the construction of the Youth Education Center, Windover’s team completed an occupied addition and renovation to the YMCA’s existing, two-story Sterling Center. This work covered the addition of a 9,000 square-foot, two-story entry providing easier accessibility for staff, members and guests and a 10,500 square-foot renovation featuring expanded exercise studios, renovated locker rooms, an expanded physical therapy center, and a new elevator.
Windover led the preconstruction and construction for these design-build projects. The facility and campus was fully occupied (seven days/week) during construction and our team successfully coordinated the phasing of the work to ensure that YMCA staff, member, and guest accessibility was maintained throughout the project.
