Consisting of an 8,300 square-foot addition of a new wing and extensive renovation to an original 1860’s church, Windover skillfully managed this project from start to finish. Taking care to preserve the historic presence of the iconic Gothic Revival building, the three-level addition and new elevator tower were designed to retain similar stylistic features, but lower in scale.
The connection of the new wing with the original sanctuary improves accessibility and flow to all areas of the church. An existing annex building was demolished and removed at the back of the church to make way for the new structure. The new wing is dedicated to religious education, featuring flexible classroom space, meeting rooms, and office space. The project also required the decommissioning and removal of an existing elevator and construction and installation of a new elevator tower servicing both church wings.
Design/Build Advantage
Several challenges due to the age of the original structure were resolved by our team’s thoughtful preplanning and extensive site inspections. We also brought design/build trade partners on-board early to leverage their expertise in planning, specifically for the electrical scope. This team collaboration mitigated issues in the field allowing the complex upgrades to be completed successfully.
