As the largest project in the school’s 135 year history, the new academic wing plays an important role in continuing the legacy of the school for many years to come. From the onset, the school’s vision was a building that would stand the test of time (100 years) without significant maintenance and would feature state-of-the-art learning spaces and an attractive and inviting environment, all adapted to the needs of their student population. Windover’s role was pivotal in ensuring that the school received the greatest return for their investment without compromising on the quality, detail, and building program.
“Windover’s team creates success by listening to the client, understanding their needs, and always being flexible to the project, budget, and in our case, the unique needs of our students.”
– Mark Carlson, President/Executive Director, CCCBSD
The school remained fully operational while construction occurred for this 30,000 square-foot addition that integrated with the existing academic facility. The two-story wing features technologically advanced classrooms, a kitchen and cafeteria, a library/media room, physical therapy area, and ample administrative space. We closely coordinated with the school administration to identify the specific building details that were required to meet the needs of their students and staff. These included attributes such as sound, vibrations, wheelchair accessibility, and lighting. Because of our ability to collaborate with the design team, we were able to closely synchronize the building program with available funding. In the end, we turned over a facility that far exceeded the expectations of the school at a per square foot price that fell well within their budget.
