Each quarter, we spotlight employees who live out our core values every day. This quarter we are highlighting Project Manager, Ian Buckley!
Ian joined Windover in 2017 and, since then, has gained insights into many facets of construction, from estimating to field operations. Detail-oriented and committed to quality, Ian works closely with his project teams to ensure efficient planning, clear communication, and successful project delivery. Ian recently completed Windover’s second project with non-profit developer Harborlight Homes, Anchor Point II, and was instrumental in delivering the new affordable housing development to the Beverly community. He’s always eager to take intelligent risks, moving his team forward with confidence and clarity. One of his teammates shared: “Ian is always even-keeled no matter the situation, lending to his steady leadership”.
We asked Ian to share a few things about himself and his time at Windover.
What is your favorite thing about working at Windover?
It’s the cliche answer, but it’s the people, and their commitment. Everyone is dedicated to providing an outstanding product and the team dynamics make for an enjoyable environment.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My projects over the past few years have been in the affordable housing market. Through our relationship with the non-profit developer Harborlight Homes, we’ve seen just how widespread the housing problem is, and how there are no age limits for those affected. Being able to complete these homes and see the excitement on a child’s face who now has their own bedroom for the first time in their life and a splash park in their backyard, and the relief on the face of a senior citizen who will be able to live out their later years in comfort has been amazing. It’s also been meaningful to have handwritten notes from new residents expressing their joy and gratitude passed along to us.
What is your favorite part about working with your team?
The trust and support within the immediate project team. We’ve been together for a few projects in a row now, so it’s been great learning where each person excels and how to best use everyone to their full potential. It’s a great group to work with.
What is your current favorite thing to do in your free time?
What free time?!? Kids keep me busy… but we have lots of other friends with kids, so we tend to just lump them all together and let things play out. Adults try and regain some sanity while the older kids teach the younger ones the ways of the world.
If you were building your dream home, what would it include?
Big backyard, screen porch, an outdoor kitchen, a pool. I’d love a big kitchen and an open living area, and a home office would be nice. I’d take anything that doesn’t come with a mortgage!
What is your favorite way to get involved with the community?
I’ve coached youth sports, participated in food drives, and I attend local events to support local artists and businesses.
