Celebrating Our Women in Construction!

Happy Women in Construction Week! This week celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry, and this year’s theme, “Many Paths, One Mission”, celebrates the different journeys women have taken toward the same goal: strengthening and amplifying the success of women in the construction industry.

To honor the important role of women in construction, we’re sharing the insights, experience, and advice of some of the amazing women at Windover:

Meghan Hennessey, Senior Estimator, with advice for women in the industry:
“My advice is to show up as your full self every day. Your perspective has merit, and your opinion is valued when it comes from a place of authenticity. I know I do my best work when I feel like myself, and I have achieved greater personal and professional growth since accepting that my role is to stand out at the table, not blend in.”

Lisa Sletten, Project Manager, on the importance of women in diverse roles in the industry:

“Having women in diverse roles makes our organizations stronger, and by creating the space to share different perspectives, we allow for the growth of ideas and methods. The more diverse the industry becomes the more everyone benefits.”

Hannah Ginley, Chief People Officer, on working with the amazing women at Windover:

“Windover exists to build great things with great people. I am so honored to be amongst these brilliant, curious, and hilarious teammates who support each other every step of the journey.”

Valerie Lausier-Collins, Director of Training & Development, with advice for women entering the industry:

“The importance of women in construction cannot be overstated. Diverse teams bring new perspectives and innovative ideas, leading to better problem-solving and increased productivity. For women entering the industry, my advice is to be confident, persistent, and open to learning. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek out mentors who can support your growth.”
